Design and manufacture of three vertical tanks for caustic soda: 1x15m3 (storage of 50% liquid NaOH) + 1×2.5m3 (mixture to dilute 50% to 25% NaOH) + 1x10m3 (storage of 25% liquid NaOH for use in the industrial process).
Design code: ASME VIII Div. 1. 1. Materials of Construction: HS 516 Gr.70 / ASTM A 106 Gr.B. Each of the tanks is made up of the following parts: cylindrical ferrule, Klopper-type lower bottom, conical upper bottom, four circular tube support legs, perimeter railing at the top and vertical access ladder. To protect the carbon steel from corrosion caused by caustic soda, a 4 mm thick GE-70 hard rubber inner coating was chosen. Externally, a 50mm thick coating was chosen, with BASF’s Elastospray 1622/24/CS3 system, which is a product indicated for thermal insulation by the projection technique and stands out especially for its high fire reaction performance, reaching the Cs3, d0 classification, according to the UNE-EN 13501-1 standard.
